The Manitoba Pharmacare Program is now covering the FreeStyle Libre 2 system for individuals 25 years old and younger who meet eligibility criteria (PDF 488 KB), effective September 28, 2021.
Effective June 1, 2022, the FreeStyle Libre 2 system is reimbursed under the Prince Edward Island Pharmacare under the newly created provincial Diabetes Glucose Sensor Program. Those eligible must be 4 years of age or older, on multiple daily injections of insulin (three or more) or using an insulin pump, and must be enrolled in the Diabetes Glucose Sensor Program.

The Yukon Health Care Insurance Plan is now covering the FreeStyle Libre 2 system for individuals with type 1 diabetes, effective October 1, 2020.

Effective April 25, 2023, the Non-Insured Health Benefits program, managed by Indigenous Services Canada, offers FreeStyle Libre 2 limited use coverage to eligible‡‡ First Nations and Inuit clients.

† To be eligible for FreeStyle Libre 2 reimbursement in Quebec, the criteria are as follows: under the age of 18 and living with type 1 diabetes; over the age of 18, living with diabetes and meets the following two criteria: is on intensive insulin therapy (insulin pump treatment or ≥3 insulin injections per day), and has frequent hypoglycemic events during the last year, despite adherence to a blood sugar management plan.
